Singing advice for growing voices and new beginnings

Clear, kind guidance for parents supporting a young singer and adults learning to use their voice with more confidence.

For parents of young singers

Understand what age-appropriate lessons look like, how confidence develops, what to expect in the first session and how to encourage practice without turning music into another source of pressure.

See our singing lessons for children and safeguarding standards for more detail.

For adult beginners and returning singers

Learn what can change with coaching, how often to book, the difference between a singing teacher and vocal coach, and how to build a creative routine that survives a busy week.

See our 1-to-1 vocal coaching for adults and singing for wellbeing pages for more detail.

How the advice is created

Every guide is written or reviewed by Phoebe Aston and grounded in real teaching questions. Each article carries the date reviewed, a short author biography and links to the relevant service page. Where a topic touches vocal health or mental health, we avoid diagnosis or treatment claims and point towards an appropriate specialist source.

Start with a question

If an article describes your situation but you still are not sure whether lessons are the right fit, use the free consultation to ask. There is no audition and no requirement to book a block after the call.
