Am I too old to learn to sing?
No. Adult voices can develop at every stage of life. Coaching is adapted to your current voice, health, experience and goals.
You do not need a big voice, previous training or a performance goal to begin. You only need curiosity and a willingness to make sound. Learn in person near Wimbledon or online, with a programme shaped around you.
Many adults arrive with the same private thought: I would love to sing, but I am probably not good enough. That belief is not a starting requirement. Vocal skill can be developed through clear guidance, regular practice and a safe environment in which you can hear yourself without judgement.
Your lessons will be practical, personal and rooted in music you care about. We will work on the technical issue in front of us, then apply it to a real song so progress feels useful rather than abstract. Lessons complement our confidence-building singing lessons for children if you are booking for the whole family.
For some adults, the goal is a gig or recording. For others, the lesson itself is the point: protected time to breathe, focus, create and reconnect with a part of themselves that work and responsibility have pushed aside.
Sound & Soul Studio offers a calm, encouraging space, but vocal coaching is not counselling or medical treatment. If stress or anxiety is affecting your health, professional healthcare support should sit alongside — not be replaced by — creative activity.
We discuss what you enjoy, what feels difficult and what you want singing to add to your life. Simple exercises help us hear how your voice is working today.
You receive a small number of relevant exercises rather than a long generic routine. Each one connects to a challenge in your chosen song.
We work through phrasing, pitch, tone and interpretation, building a version of the song that feels comfortable and recognisably yours.
At the end of the block, we identify what has changed and whether the next focus should be range, repertoire, performance, songwriting or simply continued enjoyment. Choose a 4, 6, 8 or 10-session pathway after your free consultation — see the full block options.
In-person lessons are based around Wimbledon and welcome adults from Raynes Park, Kingston, Sutton and surrounding areas — see our full list of areas served. Online lessons provide the same one-to-one attention from home and can be combined with occasional in-person sessions. Not sure whether online or in-person suits you best? Compare the two on our online singing lessons and face-to-face lessons guides.
